SeatGeek Canada has been fined by the Ontario government for violating a recent law that limits the resale of event tickets at their original face value. According to the province’s consumer protection website, the ticket resale platform received two new fines totaling $22,500 this month.
The first fine, amounting to $15,000, was imposed for allegedly listing a ticket for sale above the resale price limit. The second fine, totaling $7,500, was for allegedly not disclosing the full ticket price when purchased from a primary seller.
Neither the province nor SeatGeek Canada has provided details on the specific events that led to the fines or whether the company intends to contest the penalties. This comes after the province had previously fined SeatGeek Canada $25,000 in August for similar violations.
