Sabrina Carpenter Granted Restraining Order Against Intruder

Date:

Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter has successfully obtained a temporary restraining order against an individual who allegedly attempted to intrude into her residence in Los Angeles without prior notification or invitation, describing the incidents as “deeply alarming.” According to legal papers acquired by CBC News, Carpenter’s legal team is now pursuing a permanent restraining order against William Applegate, 31 years old. In a sworn statement, Carpenter detailed that on May 23, Applegate unlawfully entered a neighbor’s property to breach the security fencing surrounding her home. Subsequently, he approached her front door and physically attempted to force his way inside by grabbing the handle. Carpenter expressed that she found his actions deliberate, calculated, and aggressive, deeming it one of the most distressing breaches of her personal safety and privacy. The singer also revealed that she continues to feel significant fear for her safety due to Applegate’s behavior, citing Ring security camera footage capturing him at her doorstep. Carpenter further claimed that despite her private security intervening, Applegate refused to depart and falsely asserted that he had a personal connection with her and was expected. The court documents indicated that Applegate was arrested on the day of the incident; however, Carpenter disclosed that he returned less than 24 hours later, lingering outside her residence for an extended period. She recounted that he repeated this behavior for two consecutive days, even parking near her gate until law enforcement was summoned again. The documents highlighted images of Applegate’s vehicle as supporting evidence. Carpenter emphasized that Applegate’s persistent stalking, trespassing, and surveillance have inflicted severe and continuous emotional distress upon her. Security inquiries revealed that Applegate’s troubling conduct had been ongoing since at least April 20, 2026, with Carpenter noting a concerning escalation over the following month. In a separate affidavit, Detective Peter Doomanis of the Los Angeles Police Department characterized Applegate’s fixation on Carpenter as disturbing and irrational. A judge has ruled that Applegate must maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from Carpenter, her residence, vehicle, workplace, as well as her sister and her sister’s boyfriend, who reside with her. A subsequent court session is scheduled for June 17, while Applegate is also expected to appear in criminal court on June 18 for the criminal trespassing charge following his arrest.
