Canada’s Leylah Fernandez secured a 6-1, 6-4 victory against Hungary’s Dalma Galfi on Wednesday during the second round of the Japan Open tennis tournament in Osaka. Fernandez, hailing from Laval, Quebec, served one ace and committed three double faults while capitalizing on three out of eight break-point opportunities.
During the match, Fernandez dominated by winning 78% of her first-serve points, outperforming her opponent who managed to secure only 55%. Galfi, on the other hand, recorded three aces and two double faults but could not convert her sole break-point chance.
In the upcoming match, Fernandez is set to compete against Slovakia’s Rebecca Sramkova.
