“HBO’s ‘The Pitt’ Dominates 2026 Emmy Nominations”

Date:

The 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards nominees were announced today, with HBO leading the pack with its series “The Pitt.” The medical drama, starring Noah Wyle, secured 25 nominations, while HBO’s “Hacks” followed closely with 24 nods. Notably, “Hacks” set a new record for the most Emmy nominations for a comedy series in its final season, surpassing the previous record held by “Schitt’s Creek.”

Apple TV also had standout shows with its dark comedy “Widow’s Bay” earning 19 nominations and the post-apocalyptic series “Pluribus” receiving 16 nods. However, the Canadian series “Heated Rivalry,” which airs on Crave in Canada, did not receive any Emmy nominations due to the show being solely produced and financed by Canadian entities, not meeting the Primetime Emmys’ requirements for foreign productions.

Nevertheless, one of the co-leads of “Heated Rivalry,” Connor Storrie, received a nomination for his appearance on “Saturday Night Live.” The nominations were announced by previous Emmy winners Liza Colón-Zayas and Jeff Hiller at the Wolf Theatre in Los Angeles. The awards ceremony, hosted by Mariska Hargitay from “Law & Order: SVU,” will take place on Sept. 14, marking the first time in 15 years that a woman has hosted the show.

Additionally, the Emmys will introduce a new “legacy award” this year, recognizing programs that have had a profound and enduring impact on audiences, society, culture, and the industry. This marks the first new Emmy category in almost two decades.

The nominations include a variety of categories such as Best Drama Series, Best Comedy Series, Best Limited or Anthology Series, and various acting categories. For a full list of nominees in all categories, you can visit the Emmys website.
