At the age of 66, Flavor Flav experienced the thrill of sliding at a speed of 106 kilometers per hour, sparking his interest in the sport. The renowned musician, reality TV personality, and founding member of Public Enemy is now a dedicated fan of the United States bobsled and skeleton program. Recently named as the team’s official hype man, Flav expressed his excitement to join the team at the upcoming Milan-Cortina Olympics in February.
During his time with the bobsled and skeleton teams in Park City, Utah, Flav had the opportunity to ride down the track in a bobsled and even attempted the skeleton, a high-speed headfirst sliding sport where athletes can reach speeds exceeding 129 km/h. Despite safety precautions advising him to start from a lower point on the track for his first attempt, Flav insisted on starting from a higher position to challenge himself. Eventually, he achieved a speed of 108 km/h on his second run, showcasing exceptional talent for a newcomer to the sport.
Dan Barefoot, a U.S. skeleton athlete, praised Flav’s adventurous spirit and natural ability in the sport, emphasizing how he effortlessly navigated the challenging course. Flav’s involvement in sports extends beyond bobsledding, as he has been seen participating in various sporting events, such as pouring mayo at the Duke’s Mayo Bowl and supporting athletes at the Olympics and during Super Bowl weeks.
