“Vancouver Woman Pleads Guilty to Seawall Stabbings”

Date:

On Jan. 6, 2026, a woman pleaded guilty to six counts of assault in connection with a series of stabbing incidents along the Vancouver seawall in Yaletown last Friday. The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) confirmed that a suspect was apprehended on Monday at approximately 4:20 p.m. The B.C. Prosecution Service has approved one assault charge against Tamara Hamelin, aged 35, who is currently in police custody.

VPD provided an update on Sunday, revealing that the number of victims has risen from three to seven. The police responded to reports of multiple stabbings near David Lam Park in Yaletown on Oct. 10, around 7:30 a.m. Three individuals were transported to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Subsequently, four more victims came forward, including another stabbing victim, a person who was physically assaulted, and two individuals who escaped physical harm. This brought the total tally of identified victims to seven. Sgt. Steve Addison described the assaults as “violent and unprovoked,” involving five men and two women aged between 23 and 59.

Authorities believe there might be additional unidentified victims and urge them to step forward and report to the police. Multiple similar incidents have been reported, emphasizing the severity and urgency of the situation.
