Anil Mohabir expressed his surreal excitement following his recent collaboration with Drake in launching the Toronto rapper’s latest music project. The duo orchestrated a striking display by projecting an icy blue wave of light up the CN Tower overnight, complemented by a fireworks show illuminating downtown Toronto’s waterfront. This event marked the unveiling of Drake’s triple-album drop at midnight, featuring the highly anticipated “Iceman” along with surprise releases “Habibti” and “Maid of Honour.”
Mohabir, the founder of Studio AM, a renowned Toronto-based digital design studio, was approached by Drake’s creative production team, DreamCrew, with the ambitious concept. The elaborate presentation required meticulous coordination with various entities such as the CN Tower’s lighting teams, Transport Canada, and the City of Toronto. Mohabir oversaw a team of around 300 individuals who contributed to the project, which involved 75 projectors from Canada and overseas strategically positioned across three locations, including the roof of CBC’s Toronto Broadcast Centre.
The sophisticated projection, valued at around $15 million, left the spectators in awe once it was set in motion, according to Mohabir. The team’s efforts culminated in a visually stunning display that captivated the audience. This event followed a series of attention-grabbing stunts orchestrated by Drake in the lead-up to the album release, showcasing his innovative approach to promotion.
Mohabir emphasized the importance of spotlighting Canadian creatives and elevating Toronto’s cultural scene through their collaborations with Drake. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to bring their imaginative ideas to life at a remarkable level, attributing their success to their collective vision and dedication to pushing creative boundaries.
