U.S. House Democrats unveiled a series of photographs from the estate of Jeffrey Epstein on Friday, featuring notable figures such as Donald Trump, former U.S. president Bill Clinton, and ex-Prince Andrew. Members of the Democratic party on the House oversight committee shared a selection of less than 100 photos out of over 95,000 images obtained from Epstein’s estate following his death in a New York jail in 2019 while facing sex trafficking charges.
The released photos capture Epstein interacting with various celebrities. Alongside Trump and Clinton, the collection includes snapshots of Epstein with entrepreneur Richard Branson on a beach and in conversation with lawyer Alan Dershowitz. Notably, there are images showing Epstein with filmmaker Woody Allen, including a shot that seems to be taken on a film set, as well as with Trump’s former chief of staff Steve Bannon. Additionally, there are pictures featuring Microsoft founder Bill Gates, although none show him alongside Epstein.
The batch of photos disclosed by Democrats offers glimpses into Epstein’s social circles, showcasing interactions with influential and well-known individuals but does not reveal any incriminating evidence. These images, sourced from the Epstein estate, were made public by the Democratic members of the House oversight committee, contrasting with efforts by the Republican-led committee to obtain materials from Epstein’s estate.
The move by Democrats to release the photos is viewed as a strategic maneuver to keep attention on Trump’s past association with Epstein and to pressure the Department of Justice to release investigative materials as mandated by recent legislation. Responding to the release, the White House criticized the Democrats for allegedly attempting to construct a false narrative regarding Trump and Epstein, emphasizing the administration’s efforts to support Epstein’s victims and promote transparency.
Individuals depicted in the photos have responded to their connections with Epstein. Clinton acknowledged traveling on Epstein’s private jet but asserted no awareness of Epstein’s criminal activities, while Prince Andrew faced consequences for his ties to Epstein. Larry Summers, a prominent figure featured in the released emails from Epstein’s estate, expressed regret over his interactions with the sex offender and announced stepping back from public engagements.
Overall, the photos provide a window into Epstein’s social circle but do not present concrete evidence of illegal conduct, shedding light on the relationships he maintained with influential figures.
