Blue Jays Dominate Mariners, Force Game 7

Date:

The Blue Jays showcased a potent offense and solid pitching against the Seattle Mariners, who struggled with defensive errors, leading Toronto to a 6-2 victory in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series on Sunday. The win forced a decisive Game 7.

Fielding mishaps by the Mariners in the second inning allowed Toronto to take an early lead with a one-run single by Addison Barger. The Blue Jays extended their advantage to 5-0, with key home runs from Barger and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Barger continued his impressive performance with a two-run homer in the third inning, while Guerrero added a solo shot in the fifth. The Mariners managed to score two runs in the sixth inning but Toronto responded swiftly in the seventh, capitalizing on Seattle’s mistakes to secure the 6-2 win.

Rookie pitcher Trey Yesavage played a vital role for Toronto, recording seven strikeouts over six innings. The Blue Jays’ defense also shone, executing three consecutive inning-ending double plays to stifle the Mariners’ offense.

After the game, the focus shifted to Game 7 scheduled for Monday at 8:08 p.m. ET at Rogers Centre. Toronto had faced a series deficit but managed to bounce back, setting up a thrilling finale.

In the upcoming Game 7, Toronto is set to start veteran Shane Bieber, while Seattle will rely on George Kirby. The victor will advance to the World Series to face the Los Angeles Dodgers, with Toronto aiming for their first World Series appearance since 1993.

Both teams are gearing up for a high-stakes showdown, with the opportunity to secure a spot in the Fall Classic on the line.
