“Hyundai Issues Caution for 2026 Palisade Seatbelt System”

Date:

Hyundai has issued a caution regarding the seatbelt system in select 2026 Palisade models. According to a notice on Transport Canada’s Motor Vehicle Safety Recalls Database, some vehicles may experience wiring damage in the seatbelt of the third-row, left-hand side seat when pulled. This wiring issue can lead to a misleading seatbelt indicator showing that the seatbelt is fastened even when it is not, potentially causing confusion. Failing to wear a seatbelt increases the likelihood of injury in the event of a collision.

Approximately 4,203 vehicles in Canada could be impacted by this seatbelt concern. Hyundai has announced plans to inform affected drivers via written notification and recommend that they visit a dealership for seatbelt wiring repairs. Alternatively, drivers can check if their vehicle is affected by entering their vehicle identification number on Hyundai’s online recall lookup website or by contacting 1-888-216-2626.

Earlier this year, Hyundai recalled numerous vehicles in the U.S. and Canada, halting sales of certain new Palisades due to a separate issue that caused second and third-row power seats to continue moving even when they sensed contact with a passenger or object. This recall was prompted by a tragic incident in Ohio where a two-year-old child lost their life.
