Stellantis announced on Tuesday a global recall of over 1.3 million Jeep SUVs and trucks due to fire risks. Owners are advised to park their vehicles away from structures or other cars until the necessary repairs are completed. The recall affects Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator models from 2021 to 2025, specifically due to an issue with the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring that could potentially cause overheating of combustible materials, increasing the risk of a vehicle fire.
In the United States, approximately 1.08 million vehicles are included in the recall, with 106,000 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico, and around 125,000 in other global markets. Stellantis disclosed that the recall process will entail inspecting and potentially fixing or replacing the wiring harness or electric hydraulic power steering pump. The company is committed to expediting the availability of remedies and expects the recall repairs to be completed no later than July.
Although Stellantis has received reports of one possible injury associated with the issue, there have been no recorded crashes or fatalities linked to this problem.
