“WNBA All-Star Game Returns to Chicago in 2026”

Date:

The WNBA All-Star Game is set to make a return to Chicago in 2026, with the United Center chosen as the venue, as announced by the league on Thursday. Scheduled for July 25, the game will be preceded by the 3-point contest and Skills Challenge on the day before. However, these plans are subject to the league finalizing a new collective bargaining agreement, as the current one is nearing expiration, with significant differences between the two sides.

Expressing excitement about the event, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert stated, “The WNBA is delighted to bring the AT&T WNBA All-Star back to Chicago, promising unforgettable competition and community engagement.” She added, “In collaboration with the Chicago Sky, we anticipate honoring the brightest stars of the game, engaging fans globally, and highlighting the vibrant spirit of one of basketball’s most renowned cities.”

In 2022, Chicago previously hosted the All-Star Game at the Wintrust Arena, the home of the Sky. The team has occasionally played regular-season matches at the United Center, which boasts a capacity almost double that of the Wintrust Arena, accommodating just over 10,000 spectators.

Chicago Sky’s CEO and President, Adam Fox, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “The Chicago Sky is excited to host the 2026 WNBA All-Star game once again in Chicago. We are eager to build upon the success of the previous event and showcase the league’s remarkable growth by presenting the WNBA’s top talents on a global platform.”

Notably, the All-Star Game took place in Indianapolis in the previous season, but Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark missed out on playing due to a groin injury.
