Russell Brand Denies New Rape Allegations

Date:

British comedian Russell Brand has entered a plea of not guilty to fresh accusations of rape and sexual assault. These new charges, added to existing ones involving four women, were refuted by Brand during his appearance at Southwark Crown Court. The alleged incidents reportedly occurred in 2009, as stated by the Crown Prosecution Service.

Earlier in April, the 50-year-old entertainer was formally accused of two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault. Prosecutors detailed that these allegations span from 1999 to 2005, with one incident in Bournemouth and three in London. Brand had previously denied these charges in a London court earlier this year.

A trial is set for June and is anticipated to span four to five weeks. A hearing next month will determine if the new allegations will be joined with the ongoing case, with Brand’s lawyer requesting additional time to address the latest charges.

During his court appearance on Tuesday, Brand sported a white cowboy hat and sunglasses. When asked about his feelings, Brand, who disclosed his Christian faith in 2024, expressed that he feels “blessed.”

Brand, a familiar face on British television screens in the 2000s, was recognized for his flamboyant persona and work as a radio presenter for the BBC. Following his withdrawal from mainstream media in recent years, the actor of “Get Him To The Greek” fame has garnered a significant online following through content blending wellness advice, conspiracy theories, and discussions on his religious beliefs.
