The Central Okanagan Regional District has lifted the evacuation order for residents near Peachland, B.C., allowing them to return home as of Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025. The wildfire near Munro Lake Forest Service Road west of Okanagan Lake has expanded to over 2.2 square kilometers from 0.74 square kilometers. The overcast weather on Friday helped reduce the fire’s intensity.
Currently, 325 addresses are under evacuation orders, with over 1,100 properties on evacuation alert. A portion of the evacuation order was downgraded to an alert by Central Okanagan Emergency Operations. Some addresses in Peachland are still under evacuation orders.
The wildfire, suspected to be human-caused, started on Thursday afternoon. Peachland, a municipality of around 5,000 people, is approximately 20 kilometers southwest of Kelowna. The BC Wildfire Service has deployed over 40 personnel, air tankers, and four helicopters to combat the blaze.
Residents were advised to subscribe to the district’s email notification list for updates and support. Evacuated individuals needing assistance can visit the Peachland Community Centre muster center. It is crucial for residents to share verified information and assist their neighbors during this situation. No further changes to evacuation orders or alerts were expected on Friday evening.
