Odell Beckham Jr. Agrees to Six-Game NFL Suspension

Date:

Free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has agreed to a six-game suspension imposed by the NFL following a reported failed performance-enhancing drug test last year. Beckham confirmed this information during an appearance on the Pivot podcast on Tuesday. The NFL has informed The Associated Press that Beckham will be ineligible to play until Week 12.

During the podcast, the 32-year-old Beckham stated that he was unaware of taking any performance-enhancing substances. Last season, he played nine games for the Miami Dolphins, recording career-low stats of nine receptions for 55 yards.

Despite this setback, the seasoned NFL player, who was a first-round pick in the 2014 draft, expressed his intention to continue his career this season. Beckham enjoyed four 1,000-yard seasons in his first five years with the New York Giants. He was later traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2019 and ultimately moved to the Los Angeles Rams in 2021. Beckham played a pivotal role in the Rams’ Super Bowl victory in 2021 but suffered an ACL injury in the process.

Throughout his career, Beckham has amassed 575 catches for 7,987 yards, a statistic that places him 119th in NFL history for career receiving yards.

This development is significant in Beckham’s career trajectory as he navigates the consequences of the suspension while aiming to resume his on-field contributions.
