During the panel discussion titled “Democracies Demand Decency,” Fraser, alongside Rushan Abbas and Colombia’s Defence Minister Pedro Sanchez, discussed the erosion of political civility in recent years. They addressed various global issues, including the invasion of Ukraine, the treatment of Uyghurs in China, and terrorism in Nigeria.
U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer, also part of the panel, criticized a video montage showing derogatory comments made by Trump, labeling it as “indecent.” He stressed the importance of fair and respectful political discourse. Cramer highlighted the significance of aid over military spending in addressing global challenges, emphasizing the need for constructive engagement.
Fraser underscored the role of independent media and the judiciary in helping citizens navigate complex issues by promoting factual information. He stressed the importance of overcoming biases and fostering respectful dialogue to address societal challenges effectively.
