Health Canada has issued a recall for certain cannabis products due to incorrect labeling of THC content. Consumers are advised to return or discard Chillows THC pouches in hot cinnamon and winter mint flavors. The packages were labeled with 10 milligrams of THC per pouch, but actual THC levels vary and are higher than stated.
The affected products were distributed in Alberta, Ontario, Manitoba, and British Columbia from April 16 to July 30 this year. Health Canada initiated an inspection following a consumer complaint, revealing elevated THC levels in the pouches.
Health Canada’s recall notice highlights the potential risks of using the products, citing difficulties in making informed decisions about cannabis consumption due to the inconsistent THC levels. Over-intoxication and various symptoms like confusion, anxiety, elevated heart rate, impaired thinking, and decreased blood pressure may occur. The health agency warns that extreme cases could lead to psychotic episodes, particularly in certain individuals.
For safe disposal, Health Canada advises keeping the recalled products out of children’s reach.
