“Blue Jays on Brink of Playoff Series Win After 10 Years”

Date:

The Toronto Blue Jays are close to clinching their first playoff series win in almost ten years. This exciting moment is celebrated by Blue Jays supporters nationwide, including in P.E.I., where Don McDougall, a founding director of the team and instrumental in its establishment in the 1970s, closely follows the series with optimism.

The American League Division Series Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday night, with the Blue Jays leading the series 2-0 against the New York Yankees. One more victory will propel the Jays into the American League Championship Series (ALCS).

McDougall, a native of P.E.I. who now resides in Ebbsfleet, still avidly supports the team and reflects on the journey of ups and downs over the years, particularly finding this year’s progress thrilling.

Having played a pivotal role in bringing Major League Baseball to Toronto in the 1970s, McDougall recalls the early days when the team’s foundation was laid. Despite significant growth in the franchise’s value since its inception, certain core values, like nurturing young talents, remain unchanged.

Looking ahead to Game 3, McDougall reminisces with Buck Martinez about the team’s glory days in the 1980s and 1990s, highlighting the current roster’s promising future. The possibility of facing either the Seattle Mariners or the Detroit Tigers in the ALCS, followed by the World Series, brings back memories of the Blue Jays’ past triumphs in the early ’90s.

The team’s upcoming games hold the promise of recapturing the glory of their back-to-back World Series victories over 30 years ago.
