Aubrey Plaza is preparing for a new chapter in her life as she anticipates the arrival of her first child with her partner, Chris Abbott. Plaza’s representative confirmed the joyful news, describing it as a delightful surprise following a challenging year and expressing gratitude for the blessing.
Although CBC News attempted to reach out to Plaza’s representatives for additional comments, they have not received a response. Plaza, known for her roles in “White Lotus” and “Girls,” has a professional history with Abbott as they have been co-stars in projects like the 2020 film “Black Bear” and the off-Broadway revival of “Danny and the Deep Blue Sea” in 2023.
Apart from her successful acting career, Plaza is also an author of children’s books. She released “The Legend of the Christmas Witch” in 2021 and followed it up with a sequel titled “The Return of the Christmas Witch” in 2022. During an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” Plaza shared the inspiration behind her stories, which involves surprising kids on Christmas morning.
The news of Plaza’s pregnancy comes just over a year after the passing of her husband, Jeff Baena. The couple, who were together for three years, separated in September 2024, and Baena tragically died by suicide in January 2025 at the age of 47. Plaza publicly discussed Baena’s death during an appearance on Amy Poehler’s podcast, “Good Hang,” revealing the ongoing struggles she faces coping with the loss.
Plaza likened her grief to a metaphorical representation in the film “The Gorge,” describing it as a constant presence akin to a pit of darkness and monsters surrounded by towering cliffs. She expressed the challenges of dealing with her grief and the varying emotions she experiences in navigating through it.
