“Canada and USA to Co-host 2027 Women’s World Volleyball Championship”

Date:

Canada and the United States have announced that they will jointly host the 2027 women’s world volleyball championship. The tournament’s final rounds will be held in Anaheim, California, as per the announcement made by Volleyball Canada, USA Volleyball, and the FIVB on Friday. Additional details, including the selection of four more host cities for pool play and the Round of 16, along with the tournament schedule, will be disclosed at a later date.

This will be the first time that both Canada and the U.S. host this prestigious tournament. In the 32-country event, two cities in Canada and two in the U.S. will be designated to host pool play and the Round of 16 matches. In the previous 2025 world championship held in Thailand, the U.S. secured the fifth position, while Canada finished in 15th place.

Mark Eckert, the President and CEO of Volleyball Canada, expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to showcase the highest level of the sport to North American fans for the first time. He highlighted the growth of volleyball and interest in women’s sports as factors contributing to the ideal environment for hosting such a significant event. Eckert also mentioned the successful experience of hosting major events like the Volleyball Nations League and expressed eagerness to enhance the overall athlete and spectator experience for this upcoming championship.
