Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime has advanced to the final of the European Open tennis tournament after defeating Belgium’s Raphael Collignon 7-6 (2), 6-4 in the semifinals. Auger-Aliassime showcased an impressive performance, firing eight aces, committing only one double fault, and winning 78% of his first-serve points. He seized one break-point opportunity during the one-hour, 45-minute match.
In contrast, Collignon managed five aces but struggled with four double faults and failed to capitalize on any break-point chances. Auger-Aliassime, seeded second, is set to face off against third-seeded Jiri Lehecka from Czechia in the final on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Canada’s Denis Shapovalov faced a setback in the semifinals of the Stockholm Open, losing 6-3, 6-4 to Norway’s Casper Ruud. Shapovalov, the third seed, delivered six aces and four double faults while converting one of five break-point opportunities.
Ruud, the second seed, secured victory with two aces, three double faults, and a 50% success rate on break-point chances. In the upcoming final, Ruud will compete against France’s Ugo Humbert after Humbert advanced due to a walkover against top-seeded Holger Rune of Denmark, who sustained an injury during the match.
