Dodgers Dominate Brewers in NLCS Game 3

Date:

In a pivotal sixth inning, Tommy Edman’s clutch single broke the tie against rookie pitcher Jacob Misiorowski, propelling the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 3-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series (NLCS). With this win, the Dodgers now lead the series 3-0 and are on the brink of becoming the first defending champion to reach the World Series since the 2009 Philadelphia Phillies.

Shohei Ohtani kickstarted the scoring for the Dodgers in the first inning with a triple, followed by Mookie Betts’ double that brought him home. However, the Brewers managed to even the score in the second inning with a crucial RBI single from Jake Bauers.

Tyler Glasnow delivered a stellar performance on the mound for the Dodgers, allowing only one run during his 5 2/3 innings of work. The Dodgers’ pitching staff, including Ohtani, Blake Snell, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, has maintained an impressive 1.54 postseason ERA throughout their 8-1 playoff run.

The turning point came in the sixth inning when Misiorowski, after replacing Andy Ashby, faced Edman and Teoscar Hernandez. Despite striking out Hernandez, Misiorowski couldn’t contain Edman, who connected with a key hit to center field, allowing the Dodgers to take a 2-1 lead. A subsequent wild pickoff throw by the Brewers’ pitcher led to another run for the Dodgers.

The Dodgers’ bullpen held strong, with Alex Vesia and Roki Sasaki closing out the game to secure the victory. Milwaukee, which had dominated the Dodgers in the regular season, has struggled on the road in the postseason, losing their last 10 away games dating back to 2018.

Next up, Ohtani will make his second postseason start for the Dodgers, looking to replicate his strong performance from the NL Division Series. On the offensive side, Ohtani has contributed with a .158 batting average, one home run, and six RBIs in nine postseason games. Milwaukee’s starting pitcher for the next game has yet to be announced.
