Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to make his first appearance at the Junos event held at the TD Coliseum in Hamilton on Sunday. The guest list also includes legendary artist Joni Mitchell, who will be honored with a lifetime achievement award, and Nelly Furtado, who will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame during the ceremony.
A special tribute for Mitchell will be performed by Sarah McLachlan and Allison Russell, while a musical celebration of Furtado’s work will feature Alessia Cara, Jully Black, Shawn Desman, and Tanya Tagaq.
Notably, top nominees such as Justin Bieber, Tate McRae, and The Weeknd are not expected to be present at the event. The Junos will be hosted by Mae Martin, a comedian-turned-musician, and will be broadcast on CBC TV, CBC Gem, and other CBC platforms at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday.
