“Israeli Forces Kill 3 Palestinians in Gaza Amid Ceasefire Tensions”

Date:

Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip killed three Palestinians near the city of Rafah, intensifying tensions amid the fragile ceasefire sponsored by the United States. The Israeli military claimed the Palestinians were identified as “terrorists” who breached the yellow line, a boundary marking Israeli-controlled areas. Allegedly posing an immediate threat to troops, the individuals were targeted without evidence provided by the Israeli military.

Following a series of Israeli attacks, Hamas and Israel have exchanged accusations regarding breaches of the delicate ceasefire that ended a two-year conflict. Reports indicate ongoing house demolitions by Israeli forces in Rafah, Khan Younis, and Gaza City.

Since the ceasefire began on October 10, most hostilities have subsided, allowing Palestinians to return to their damaged homes in Gaza. Hamas has released 20 living hostages in exchange for around 2,000 Palestinian detainees held by Israel. However, sporadic violence persists, with Palestinian health authorities reporting 239 fatalities from Israeli strikes in Gaza post-ceasefire.

Amid the ceasefire efforts, Israel has returned 45 Palestinian bodies previously in its custody to Gaza. Despite challenges in identifying the bodies, Gaza’s Health Ministry has received a total of 270 bodies from Israel, with only 78 identified so far. The forensic process is hindered by the lack of DNA testing kits in Gaza, prompting officials to share photos online for potential family recognition.

Israel confirmed that three of its soldiers were killed, with retaliatory actions taken against numerous fighters. In a recent development, Israel handed over more Palestinian bodies to Gaza, increasing the total returned bodies to 270, though identification remains a complex task for authorities. Hamas has reciprocated by returning the remains of hostages as part of the ceasefire agreements.
