Chris Mallinos, a resident of Ottawa, shared his family’s journey as his son Theo battles leukemia. Theo, only 11 years old, was diagnosed with leukemia in February. Instead of enjoying Grade 5 like his peers, Theo spent his days in the hospital undergoing chemotherapy, losing his hair, and coping with the harsh realities of the disease.
Everyday interactions have become challenging for Chris and his family since Theo’s diagnosis. Simple questions trigger emotional turmoil, leading Chris to navigate conversations with caution, often choosing to withhold the truth to shield Theo’s privacy.
