Netflix Canada has unveiled its plans to adapt another one of Carley Fortune’s popular romance novels into a 10-episode series. The selected book for adaptation is Fortune’s third novel, “This Summer Will Be Different,” which revolves around Lucy’s encounter with Felix, her best friend Bridget’s younger brother, during a summer in Prince Edward Island. Despite the chemistry between them, Lucy tries to avoid Felix, especially when Bridget faces a crisis before her wedding. The series will be filmed in Toronto and P.E.I., staying true to the book’s settings. Fortune expressed her excitement about bringing the love story to life on screen, drawing inspiration from her own experiences on the picturesque island. Aside from “This Summer Will Be Different,” Fortune is known for her other novels such as “One Golden Summer,” “Every Summer After,” and “Meet Me at the Lake.” Her upcoming book, “Our Perfect Storm,” is set to be published on May 5. Additionally, “Every Summer After” is currently being adapted into a television series titled “Every Year After” on Amazon Prime Video, while “Meet Me At the Lake” has been optioned for film by Netflix and Archewell Productions, owned by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. “Meet Me At the Lake” was also a notable contender for Canada Reads in 2024.
