Blue Jays player Nathan Lukes returned to the starting lineup for Game 2 of the American League Championship Series against Seattle after sustaining a bruised knee in Game 1. Lukes had to exit Game 1 in the third inning following a hit to his right leg during an at-bat. Despite the injury, he was ready to bat second and play right field in the subsequent game at Rogers Centre.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider confirmed Lukes’ return, stating that Lukes received treatment and felt better prior to the game. Lukes experienced difficulty with movement, leading to his substitution by Myles Straw in the previous game. However, medical tests revealed no serious issues.
In Game 2, right-hander Trey Yesavage was set to start for Toronto against Logan Gilbert. Outfielder Anthony Santander was later removed from the lineup due to a lower back issue, with Davis Schneider taking his place in left field. Second baseman Ernie Clement’s batting position was adjusted accordingly.
The series was scheduled to shift to Seattle for Games 3 and 4, followed by a potential Game 5. If necessary, Games 6 and 7 would be held in Toronto. The Blue Jays are aiming to reach the World Series for the first time since their consecutive championships in 1993.
