Regina Woman’s Epic Scooby-Doo Collection Story

Date:

Alexa Lawlor, 28, from Regina, has amassed an extensive collection of Scooby-Doo memorabilia over the years. She has lost count of the number of items in her collection and the total amount spent on acquiring them. However, for Lawlor, collecting these items is not just about the quantity but the stories behind each piece.

Her passion for Scooby-Doo started when she saw a toy of the character as a child, instantly falling in love with it. Growing up in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Scooby-Doo merchandise was a popular gift choice due to the release of live-action movies, leading Lawlor’s collection to expand rapidly.

Her collection now fills most of her living room, spanning across bookshelves, the kitchen, and hallway. It includes various vintage items like jigsaw puzzles, VHS tapes, dolls, figurines, action figures, and stuffed animals. Notably, Lawlor also possesses rare items such as character reference guides used by Hanna-Barbera staff and autographed prints by Scooby-Doo creators.

Lawlor’s keen eye for new additions to her collection has led her to online marketplaces, second-hand stores, flea markets, antique markets, and garage sales. She humorously refers to this ability as her “Scooby Sense.” One memorable acquisition involved convincing a man at the Calgary Stampede to sell her a giant Scooby-Doo toy he had just won.

Additionally, Lawlor hosts a podcast called “The Unmasked History of Scooby-Doo,” where she interviews individuals connected to the franchise. Her passion for the show stems from its relatable characters and intriguing mysteries that provide a sense of comfort and fun. Interviewing voice actors and industry professionals has been a rewarding experience for Lawlor, connecting her with fellow fans worldwide.
