The excitement continues the next day at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island, featuring seven events, including the long jump final, with top athletes like Olympic champions Faith Kipyegon and Masai Russell vying for over $773,000 in prize money and coveted Tiffany & Co. crowns.
Looking ahead, Athlos plans to introduce a team-based format in the upcoming season to further promote track and field. The founder, Alexis Ohanian, known for Reddit, reflected on the success of the previous year’s event and the goal to elevate the competition to new heights this time around.
The highlight of the competition will be the Times Square long-jump showdown in front of iconic stores like Sephora and Disney, offering a unique blend of athleticism and entertainment. The event will feature live music, engaging storytelling, and top athletes competing in various races. The winners stand to earn substantial cash prizes, with bonuses for breaking world records.
Notable figures such as Sha’Carri Richardson, Gabby Thomas, and Melissa Jefferson-Wooden will be in attendance, along with a special tribute to Jamaican legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.
