A pet parrot named Bleu embarked on a remarkable journey, flying 500 kilometers from Torquay to Prince Albert in Saskatchewan. Bleu’s escape occurred when she flew out of an open door at Rhys MacLean’s parents’ house, where the cage door was often left open. Despite initial concerns about finding her, the parrot’s unexpected flight led to a month-long disappearance.
Following unsuccessful search attempts, MacLean posted on a local lost and found page, not expecting much success. However, the response was overwhelming, with people offering tips and assistance. Despite the challenges of catching Bleu, the community’s support was unwavering.
After a month, a woman in Prince Albert captured a blue parrot and alerted the Saskatoon Parrot Rescue. The captured parrot turned out to be Bleu, bringing a happy ending to the mission to find her. Bleu returned home looking tired but eventually regained her usual playful demeanor, reuniting with her cage-mate Kiwi.
